In this entry, I'm
cleaning out some miscellaneous photos that I took this springones
sitting around on my computer that didn't make it into the other
spring entries.
On the 11th of April,
I found this little red-legged fly on my car door when I opened
it at work. I don't know if he flew onto it when I opened the
door, or if he had ridden with me all the way from home.

The next
day, the 12th, I took a few photos in the courtyard at my condo.
These first two were of some Cherry blossoms. |
This
next one, of course, is a tulip. |
And this
final one from that day is a moth that was on one of the building's
doorframes. |
This photo
of tulips in the courtyard and their reflection in the lagoon is
from the 5th of May. |
On the 22nd
of May, I came out to find a pair of Gadwall in the lagoon. I've
seen a male Gadwall here once before, but to have the pair of them
was a nice treat. Especially since I had my camera with me. |
This is
the male, preening. |
And this
is the female. |
On the same
day, I found this worm in the garage and had to run get my flash
unit so I could get a picture of him. It's interesting how he's
got different colors and textures along his length. |
On the 6th
of June, I went out to take duckling photos, but found Sonic tending
to his hygiene before I found the ducks. |
But of course,
I did find the ducks, and I got several photos of them. |
The next
day I took more duck photos. |
The following
was one of my favorites. |
Sonic was
out and about that day, too. He has the courtyard memorized now,
and doesn't need to look where he's going. |
It was a
Wednesday that day, so I had to go on to work. When I came home,
about two blocks away from where I live, I saw a Bald Eagle being
harassed by crows. |
Behind the
eagle was another raptor being harassed. At first I thought that
it was another eagle, but when I got a look at it, I saw it was
a Red-tailed Hawk. |
The hawk
looked to be molting, and was having a tougher time of it than the
eagle. He was really being ganged up on. |
On the 23rd of June,
I went back out to Surrey Lake Park to see if I could find that
Green Heron that had eluded my camera, and also to try to get
better photos of the Eastern Pheobe. I was able to do neither,
but I did watch a few Barn Swallows while they drank on the fly.
To do this, they fly along close to the water, and dip their head
(or maybe body; it's hard to tell) down into it. This causes a
bit of a splash.
But the swallow is
still flying, and he comes zooming out the middle of the splash.
I've seen them doing
that once or twice before.
I also found this Red
Admiral out at the park. Here, he's got his head turned up for
some reason.
Further
along in the park, I also found an eagle up in a tree. |
And that's it for my
spring photography.
Wondering what summer
will hold,
Tom
