A dead calf

The first thing that I noticed when I went over to the trailer to check for Oli was a dead calf beside a row of cattle stalls. Oli told me that he suspects it was a stillborn calf from that morning.

For me, death is part of life, and while I've been out watching and photographing animals, I've seen my share of death. I saw this as a good opportunity to capture a fresh death that had been without violence. In other words, the animal was whole and, unlike many of the dead animals I see, it hadn't met with the claws of a predator or the grill of an auto.
