Early 2002 Photos |
There was a week in May when eagles came to Poplar Island, which is just across the river from my place. At one point, we counted nine of 'em in the air. Seems they were following some fish up the river and found the wooded island a good place to hunt from. Sadly, this tree and another (which were on the tip of the island) blew over in a windstorm about a month or two later. Here are details of the above shot, a little contrast-enhanced. I ordered a more powerful telephoto lens for my camera while the eagles were here, but it arrived after they left (and turned out not to be the best quality, anyway). It's times like these that make me wish I had a camera with about 4 to 8 times the telephoto capability that I have.
